Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I view adoptable dogs?

Please review PCRT's Petfinder profile to learn more about all adoptable dogs.

Are dogs transferred in from out of state?

No. PCRT intakes the most vulnerable dogs from our local municipal shelters. We also intake local owner surrenders, unique medical cases, and otherwise overlooked and/or neglected dogs. We do not transport in dogs from out of state for any reason at this time.

Do you only have Pit Bulls?

No. PCRT has welcomed a variety of dogs into our community including breeds like Golden Retriever, Australian Cattle Dog, Pomeranian, Great Dane, German Shepherd, Cane Corso, Doberman, Schnauzer, Chihuahua, Boxer, Lab, and of course, American Pit Bull Terriers, and Staffordshire Terriers.

Current available dog breed(s) reflects Rochester's local pet crisis. We do not bring in dogs from out of state. Breeds like American Pit Bull Terriers and  Staffordshire Terriers are most commonly abandoned and neglected in our region, which is often where PCRT steps in.

How can I support PCRT?

A few ways to support PCRT's mission is to foster, donate, share social media posts, attend events, and spread the word! Monetary donations can be made directly to our veterinarian's office, or via PayPal. We also accept donations like blankets, toys, crates, etc.

More than anything, please consider fostering. Small local rescues rely on a network of fosters volunteering their homes to create safe temporary landing spots for dogs in need. Without committed foster homes, rescue organizations cannot continue saving dogs.

Currently, there are more local dogs in limbo, waiting for their forever family. than there are available adopters.

Dogs NEED a place to decompress and acclimate to home life while waiting for these adopters. Supporting a dog in need during this transition from intake to adoption is an invaluable, selfless service. If fostering interests you, please apply and/or reach out with any questions. We'd love to hear from you!

Is PCRT a non-profit?

Yes. PCRT is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization approved by the IRS since 2025. You can find us under Pawsitive Chance Rescue Team, Inc.
